Hi,

Good job! on the file you edited everything is working good as well.

So, as you recommended, in Physical camera, i changed the camera shutter Duration to 1/57... Exposure Gain on Manual:100 ISO.

turned off the Gi Environment on Vray Environment on RenderSetup. and instead -as i think the problem was all in this part- as you recommended, i dragged the Sky from the environment dialog to the material editor as an instance, and i changed the Sun’s intensity to 15. but to connect it to the sun, on the "sun light" button -None- i can't add the Vraysun.(as i marked on screenshot). so that it is noticable still on Render.. i use State Material Editor mode, as i click on the None button, nothing happens.i tried to drag it also, but no...

One other thing, as i was checking the changes you made, in some cases, like for example Irradiance map, changing the option Default to Advanced, as i see on Advanced mode i can edit more options, but are they so much different, even if (when it remains on Default mode) or as i don't change the options neither on advanced mode?

One difference i noticed on Vray light/Sampling as i marked on screenshot, i was curious to know what could it be?

Regards,

lights on 3dmax 2016 vray 3.20

Hi, i'm using max 2016 vray 3.20 . As i used to work on max 2014 and now here in 2016 the vray camera works differently, for using the traditional VRay Physical camera instead i resolved it by entering vrayCreateVRayPhysicalCamera() in the MAXScript Listener, the parameters of the camera are ok and it works good as well. the Problem now is that while i'm doing an exterior render and i have Vray sun, Vray light Dome, but they don't have any effect on the render, the render is not black or something, it's clear but as i change the light's parameters it doesn't have any effect! so I was wondering may it's because i'm using physical camera and Vray light, Could it be? or else what could it be? Thanks.

Hi,

I couldn't reproduce this problem,

If you still have this problem, maybe you can post the scene, not necessarly all the objects,

Just the cameras and the lights so i can check it.

Anyway, good, i will send you the file by Email. Thanks.

Hi,

1- Yes the GI Environment will override the Environment Map used in the Environment And Effects dialog box,

So, you're losing the dynamic effect of the VraySky when you change the Sun's direction or intensity.

2- To connect the VraySky to the Sun,in the material editor, after clicking the "None" button you need to pick the Sun

In the viewport using your mouse.

3- For the Advanced mode in the GI dialog, i opened it to check if there is something changed in the default,

I changed the saturation back to the default of 1. Actually if you click again you'll enter the Expert mode,

Where you can also change the intensity of the primary and secondary light bounces.

But i always keep the defaults, since in most cases they are the best ones, but you need to use

Real world sizes for the geometry, and real world light intensities units like Watt,.. plus a psysical

Camera, to be able to benefit from these defaults. Otherwise you'll find yourself playing around with combinations

of settings and wasting your time, and getting frustrated.

4- For the light sampling, if you see that shadows are a bit noisy, just increase the Subdiv. amount. Don't exaggerate

Because the actual number of samples in all parameters in Vray where you see a Subdiv. options,

Is the square of the number you see. so 8 means 64 samples. In your case there is no need to increase it.

Note: after i opened the file i sent to you i noticed that i left, by mistake, the light cache = 200,

So don't forget to increase to 1500.
