Use an UnwrapUVW and assign those faces a planar projection in there.

open 180°open 54°

Hello, this might be somewhat of a noob question but I can't find a solution online so please let me know if anyone here can help.

I need to apply textures to 2 inner sides of a sphere with the slice turned on. I need to do it like this so I can animate the slice values up and down while having the bitmap texture stick to the inner sides correctly.

Here is the texture I am testing with. I need to apply it to the inner sliced side of a sphere:

If I assign the correct material IDs to my sphere using Edit Poly modifier, Max can automatically assign my texture to the correct polygons, but it appears distorted:

However, if I change my slice values, the texture sticks to the polygons correctly (it is just mapped wrong in the first place):

If I set the slice back and apply a planar UVW map to those polygons, the texture now maps correctly:
But if I then change my slice values, the texture no longer sticks to the polygons correctly:

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance 🙂
