whenever i press ctl+z or use the back arrow key it gets stuck and then i got an application error window saying " an error has occurred and the application will now close. Do you want to attempt to save a copy of the current scene? " this happened to me 10 times so i restarted a new scene then again happened 8 times which two of them i couldn't even save an auto back copy and lost my progress.
i updated my graphics card my Intel drivers and also 3ds max latest update of my version and the problem still occurs

if you use default Hot Keys the crash happens on Undo operation. So the problem is related to methods you recently used (before Undo).

Therefore, the problem is most likely in the data that you work with, or in the tools you use. If you want to solve this issue, you should tell us what your data is (including data size), and what tools you use.

mostly it's copying, moving and editable poly. data size when i started the first file was 1048KB and the last recovery file was 38,896KB, the second scene I'm currently working at when i started it was 9176KB and now 17,696 KB.

I've attached the files sizes and the scene poly count.

Data is simple and files (scenes) are small. So it's not a memory issue.

What tools do you use? Do you use any third-party plugins?

Editable poly :extrude, inset, edges. Shift and drag for copying, lines, box.
I have floor generator but it kept stucking so I didn’t use it other than that no other plugins only vray.

Well. Let's believe in a miracle ... Perhaps this is just a memory issue.

Go to MAX Customize -> Preference settings -> MAXScript -> Memory: Initial heap allocation ...

It might use the default value which is 15 (MBytes). I don't know what you have, but set the number to 200 (MBytes).

Close and reopen MAX.

Try to work under this setup.

Please, let me know what was the original number, and how the idea helps to solve the crashing issue.

Hello, I did the steps the original number was 15 it get stuck more and more that I have to force shut it and lose everything if I hadn’t save it but I only had one crash so far.

it's still crashing and getting stuck a lot i also save it before i closed it and the next day i lost all the progress i did and it was a lot is there any other solution ?

do you use Auto Backup? Use it if you don't. At least you will not 'loose all the progress'...

Try to remember the exact operation (situation) when the system crashes. There must be a coincidence.

If you can do it, send (or post) a file that was saved just before the system crashed.

yes it supposes to be baking up every 5 min just changed it to 30 but the last back up is on 12th what im using the recovery scene after it crashes, mostly is doing undo in something a copied or moved then it stuck and crash and save it as recovery then i opened that file and continue but these two days its not even saving thou it asks me if i want to back it up but yesterday when i try to save it i got a message saying error and do you want to save it in a specific location so i saved the file in project folder in the scene with new name. I've tried to attach the last file i was working on before the crash but its more than 75MB is there any other way i can send it to you.

Everything is simple. Files (probably all) are "infected" with ALC/CRP scripts. They have to be cleaned as well as whole MAX system. There are malicious hidden and not hidden scripts in the system. There is a big discussion about this issue. Try to search AREA forum for ALC/CRP
