Is there a way to edit a encrypted macroscript to remove a maxVersion() check?

Hey, i bought a max plugin a couple of months ago which works fine with max 2019 but sadly it doesn't work with max 2020.

When i try to run the plugin in max 2020 i get a incompatability error and i think the restriction is due to a maxVersion() check written into the script.

Sadly the seller doesn't answer any type of inquiery...

Is there a way to actually remove this?

There is no legal way to decrypt .mse's, as Autodesk's encryption is proprietary.

With that being said, I wanted to peek inside a maxscript library (entirely for learning purposes!) and I found a 3rd party tool with a simple google search to decrypt mses.

So yes, it can be done, but it violates the Autodesk TOS and as such, you probably won't get any more specific advice here.

Unfort. yes, there is.. If you search on Google, you'll find.

That's the reason I'm hiding my MXS code in C++ plugins.

where did you find that it's illegal to decrypt mse files?

Autodesk accepts no responsibility for encrypted scripts, and does not guarantee the protection of your rights to your encrypted scripts. This is just a kind of "service" that the system offers you.

My suggestion anyway is to find an author of the script and ask him/her/or them to fix the issue. If you were so honest when you paid for someone else's work, than stay honest. The work of the tool developer is ungrateful. Respect it.
