hello,

i am in a bizarre situation of having to learn studio max in a very short span of time (not easy!)
i did short of ok with the modelling and textures but now comes the tricky part: rendering.
to make matters worse i am about to inherit a model from another practice that i have to incorporate into mine.
my practice uses mental-ray as a renderer. the other practice uses v-ray as a renderer.
we need to produce sort of similar images as far as the end result is concerned.
so the question is:
is there a script that will "translate" the rendering parameters from v-ray to mental ray, or do i have to start from scratch with mr sky etc?

thank you in advance!

Try this --> http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/gtools-material-converter

NEVERMIND - Got it stuck in my head you were talking about materials. I don't think you'll get the same rendering from Vray as Mray - better to decide on one and go for it. They're both pretty different as far as render settings, most are not 1 to 1 transferable. I wouldn't even know where to begin, between material, render, exposure, lighting model, GI, FG differences - what mess... Good luck 😛
