You could try Gizmo Control though I've not tried it on current versions of Max it should probably work.

I am trying to script a slice plane, so even if the video plane moves, the clipping plane
does not.

Here's what I tried
I have for test so far $video and $fixedpoint.

The fixed point is at 0,0,0 and i want the video plane
to be clipped if it moves left of center.

I scripted the position on the slice plane in the track view
to be $fixedpoint.pos-$video.pos with a controller.

But you have to refresh the timeslider each frame to see the results.

I am a dumbarse with what i think should be simple.

Is there a better way?

You want the MAXScript help topics "Using Node Transform Properties" and "Modifier Sub-object transform properties."

I don't have an easy command of the math at my fingertips, but I know that if I ever need to accomplish something like that I'm going to need to pick my way through those examples.
