Hi, I am trying to transfer UV's from a High Poly onto a Low Poly.
The High Poly has 3ds Max materials for it, which I want to apply to the Low Poly.

Or is there a simpler way of changing the High Poly textures to fit the UV's of the Low Poly?

Thank you!

The UV's are basically the models polygons in 2D - because both models have completely different polygons you can not copy/paste the UVs across. However as you've suggested you can use the projection modifier to setup a cage and bake the information from the high-polygon model to the low-polygon model as a 'Diffuse' map.

The Projection modifier uses a cage which you need to make slightly bigger than the low polygon model as it sends rays inwards and captures what it hits on the low-polygon model to the specified texture file. This method can be fiddly and require some post correction and or splitting up your models and baking sections of it at a time in order to get the best results. This method is also used for baking Normal Maps so you could do this at the same time as baking the Diffuse map.

Note: The low-polygon UV's do not need to match the high-polygon model as the data is being captures via the projection rays however you need to make sure you do not have any overlapping UVs.

Can you help me with the steps necessary to obtain these low poly UVs using projection modifier?

or would you be interested in completing 6 for credit within a project?
