topic Why are measurements always 1/64" short? in 3ds Max Modeling Forum

There is an issue that bugs me for a while. Let's say, you have an object on 0,0,0 and you move it 3' in y direction. When you go to absolute coordinate, it will say that the object is 2' 11 63/64" in y direction. And it is like that everywhere where measurement is involved. You'll input the whole number and it will always be 1/64" short.

Why is it like that? Is there any way to make the Max stop doing that?

I could not reproduce the problem but I would make sure that the display units and the system units are the same. Note that Max's precision is limited to approximately 7 significant figures (not to be confused with decimal places). As objects get further away from 0,0,0 their positional accuracy is reduced. The slider in the Systems Unit Setup dialog box can be used to show the relationship between position and accuracy. The number 16777215 (= 2^24 -1), is an indication of the ~7 significant figures.
