Nothing yet. Well actually I would love to make a game someday. Right now
I'm just researching and stuff. And I'm having a hard time with it. I got
the Autodesk site telling me I can "make beautiful environments for games
with 3ds Max" but yet I can't find any information about doing something
like that.

Can I create a world environment in 3ds Max and export it to my game engine or do I have to use some software like ReCap pro to scan an environment and then edit and add animations in 3ds Max? What exactly is 3ds Max used for in games? Thanks.

max is used for a lot things it was/is one of the top software that is used for the gaming industry it all depends on what you are looking to model and animate for example. you can model characters, vehicles, architectural design, etc (imho autodesk should of improve the AEC (architectural engineering and construction becuase it's still stuck in v5 era),

https://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-max/overview?mktvar004=675925&internalc=true

look at some reviews on youtube,

If your a student then i would download the student version or the trial version and see what you think of it before you jump in at the deep-end, and just buying it off the bat. but with either the student version or the trail you cannot post the images on line or sell your models because this violates your agreement when you sign up.

Ok that makes sense. I am actually a student and I do have the student
version of the software. Also I did watch some tutorials to get started and
they used Sketchbook to draw a model and then took it into some software to
turn it into a 3D model and then into Mudbox for texturing and I can't find
anywhere how to take a drawing from Sketchbook and turn it into a 3D model.
How does that work and can I use 3ds Max for that? Thanks so much for your
time.

you cannot just import the Sketch and max will do the work for you as you know no software will to that, you would need to add the Sketch to an image to your viewport, that is simple but it will take sometime to start modeling the Sketch, depends on how complicated is it to model.

and what you are modeling or going to model? the link is how to setup your image in the viewport.
