Hi,

You can should try outer amount rather than inner amount if you need it more thick.

Hope this will help...

Thank you.

Hi All!
So I am finally trying to solve an issue that has basically plagued me since I started modeling and that is: "How do you use the Shell Modifier and avoid interpenetration?" As seen in the image above, the shell modifier applied with a 2 cm parameter is causing the generated surface to penetrate itself.

In the past I have fixed it by manually editing the generated mesh.. or made sure to use 'Shell Modifier' before adding any chamfers (since chamfering along with shell seems to be what causes this to occur).. or lastly settling for a shell depth that is less then desired in order to avoid the interpenetration. However I have been having to do an increasing amount of cutaway style modeling lately and I am finding that I have been running into this issue quite a bit and am just wondering if there are some better tips or strategies for avoiding this? Thanks!!

Hi,

If it's not to extreme of an overlap you can tick the "Straighten Corners" box at the very bottom of the Shell parameters. Give that a try - hope that works for you in this case.
