When I create or import OBJ models from 3DS Max 2017 to Daz Studio 4.10 a lot of times they come in with jagged faces. When I apply shaders to these objects they turn out very ugly. Is there anyway to fix this in Daz Studio or 3DS Max 2017?

In 3DS Max
https://i.postimg.cc/Y0TbY1JW/Annotation-2019-05-22-042438.png
In Daz Studio
https://i.postimg.cc/Y2QGHNSL/Annotation-2019-05-22-044040.png

The 3DS Max 2017 Source File
https://workupload.com/file/DtFsKSBG

Attachment(s)
MandD.max

I've also tried exporting after I imported it to Blender and it still comes out messed up in Daz Studio.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

You have two different problems:

The geometry has a huge ngon with lots of verts. The ngon is imported dynamically to DAZ and breaks. The solution is a better topology. But a quick fix is to convert the object to edit mesh. Then edge mode, display properties (bottom edit mesh panel) , select all edges and use the make visible button. This will convert the ngon in triangles and will stop DAZ re interpreting the model.

The second problem is that DAZ has no way to import smoothing groups from OBJ. but you can go to surface and modifier the angle of the smoothing of the object. It will display fine.

The answer was to use "Quadify Mesh Modifier" on your object.

You can find the solved answer on Daz3D forums here:
(Solved) Importing from 3DS Max with Smooth faces
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/328716/solved-importing-from-3ds-max-with-smooth-faces/p1

Well I'm not a professional modeler so there was no way I could find or follow your instructions to achieve the results you were suggesting (maybe a video demo on a box would've been helpful). I don't even know what "topological modification" is? I looked it up on YouTube but I couldn't understand how it would exactly work in my specific problem.

I was told to use "Quadify Mesh Modifier" to smooth the face in Daz3D and when I did it the Flat face of the object created a smooth pattern to apply the shader correctly. Even the logo and text textures applied perfectly. So if this didn't solve the problem I don't know what would have.

Inside your object, on the top faces, there are not enough polygon to finish the model.

Maybe you should have something closer to the blue object modeling (see pictures attached)
