topic Spiral Edge Loops with Retoplogy Modifier in 3ds Max Modeling Forum

Hi! Thanks in advance for your answers and your help. I am using 3ds Max 2025 to retopologize a scanned character using the Retopology modifier. In general, it did a good job, but it generated spiral edge loops all over the mesh, and it didn’t generate proper edge loops in key areas to maintain the shape, so I can make UV mapping easier. The Retopology modifier settings were left at default. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me? Thanks a lot!

What if you detach parts of the mesh at those critical edge seams and retopo each part separately? Then attach them back together after you UV everything.
