Hi, I'm wondering why some of the faces have shading. I have created some wall with a line > extrude > edit poly > shell.

Is this an issue, will it affect the final render? If so how do I fix it?

Appreciate the help.

@matthewfrasermossleyps

This looks like just a simple smoothing group issue. Just place an edit poly modifier on the stack above the shell modifier, and in polygon sub-object mode go to "Polygon Smoothing Groups" section and with the polygon(s) selected, hit "Clear All". That should remove the smoothing artifact.

More info on smoothing groups is available in the Max docs, for example here:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/ENU/3DSMax-Modeling/files/GUID-1DB2E3C2-CE68-4AF7-899E-01B90F7EB320-htm.html
