    <description>&lt;P&gt;thanks, that's helpful to see yours worked.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;i'm sculpting a Plane in Mudbox 2017 then importing into Max 2017 then applying the shell and smooth modifiers.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;it's an Editable Poly. does it work better as a Mesh?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>Shell Modifier creating Facets on Geometry</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;when i add the Shell Modifier to a geometry i'm getting facets on one side of the model.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;the Smooth Modifier doesn't not get rid of it.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Does anyone here have a solution? i have a feeling this is an old issue&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;thanks!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/795588"&gt;@mattsimecek&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Not sure how you created your mesh and what your stack looks like, but with when I tried to quickly recreate your issue with a curvy mesh both inner and outer edges of Shell were smoothed fine (Max 2022, Arnold) :&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="10DSpace_0-1662153416996.png" style="width: 600px;"&gt;&lt;img src="https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/1111241iCDDE68ABBFC08E0C/image-size/medium?v=v2&amp;amp;px=400" role="button" title="10DSpace_0-1662153416996.png" alt="10DSpace_0-1662153416996.png" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Did you try to select the inner faces (or outer faces depending on your inner or outer shell amount setting) from the &lt;EM&gt;Shell Modifier&lt;/EM&gt;&amp;nbsp;(at the bottom of the Shell Mod rollout) and with those selected put a &lt;EM&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Smooth&lt;/STRONG&gt; &lt;/EM&gt;modifier on the stack?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/795588"&gt;@mattsimecek&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Try adding smooth or meshsmooth to the imported mesh &lt;EM&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;before&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/EM&gt; adding the shell modifier.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;If that doesn't work, then try to select the inner surface from shell modifier like I said above and then add smooth above the shell.&amp;nbsp; You can try with Editable mesh instead of Editable Poly, but I&amp;nbsp; don't know if that should matter in your situation.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
