topic How to model this plate? in 3ds Max Modeling Forum

Hello,

I'm fairly new to modeling in 3DS Max, and I was wondering if someone could help give me some advice/tips/run-through as to how to model this style of plate?

I don't know if I should just go to Create->Shape->Line and use that to create the outline and then use Lathe to create the body, or some other method... because the part that I'm not sure how to create is the curved/rimmed rim of the plate with the six (curved) segments/sides?

I attached a few reference images of what I'm trying to get it to look like. One shows a 3D model available, and it displays the wireframe of the model, just in case that is helpful for someone who knows more about modeling than I do.

I would rather learn to model it myself instead of buying a model.

Hope someone can help! Thanks in advance for your time and assistance!
