This might help you. Natively importing 3d into AE is really, really new if you don't have Element3D (like you mentioned) or something similar.

Here's a link to a video showing it working nicely in a Beta version of AE, which Adobe Cloud users can install. Go to about 4:40 in the video to see that. I tested it and it does work.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX2SzgfDmXY&ab_channel=flomotion

Importing model into After Effects

Hello, I've spent a full day trying to import a model into After Effects (started this time yesterday), I've followed various tutorials but keep coming to an impasse. Please could somebody help I really feel like I've run into a brick wall.

I've tried exporting my model as a .obj, After Effects won't let me open that. I've removed all of the lighting, cameras and animation from the file and exported selected objects. I can't find a free version of Element 3d anywhere (looks like that's the nice easy option). I've followed a tutorial that requires the file to be opened in Photoshop and then exported out, I had to change my GP settings in Photoshop preferences, Photoshop wouldn't open the file and came up with this error message 'Could not open because 3D functionality is currently disabled due to OpenGL being disabled'... OpenCL was greyed out so I followed a tutorial to change that, Open CL is now ticked in Photoshop but the file still won't open and the same error message appears.

I'd appreciate any advice on this since I'm really struggling now.

Thank you in advance.

Rebecca
