Yes that is the drawback if you need to add verts in the walls.

I'm looking for a way to change my wall joins from a standard butt join to a mitre cut where the walls are cut on a 45 degree angle.
Is there a simple way to do this within Max? I understand I'll most likely need to do this manually to each joing one by one but I'm fairly new to modelling so someone may need to ELI5 what exactly I need to do.

Hi,

You can use Sweep Modifier for this, it always connects as miter cuts.

You can set your wall height, width etc in sweep also, as i did in the screenshot below;

Left one is AEC Extended > Wall object, Right one is Sweep modifier applied to a Spline. You can also set the justification of your profile from the Sweep Parameters Rollout. I think this is the best way for miter joints as fast as possible.

Best regards;

Or Spline, Extrude Modifier, Shell. You can turn off Cap Start and Cap End in the Extrude Modifier and adjust the thinkness of the walls with the Shell. Splines can also be booleaned together to create the shapes that you need for the floor plan.

Exactly, but there might be issues with Spline > Extrude > Shell modifier such as in image-1 below, so i preferred to not to mention it.

Exactly. But still, for non complex plans, extrude and shell operations can
be applied. 🙂
