Hi,

Been trying to find a good tutorial regarding 3ds Max for creating a pile of rubble. My assignment requires that I create a ruined mausoleum and to ruin the walls would result in various piles of stone rubble but I don't want to have to model out 100+ individual piece of rubble. Is there an easier way? Does anyone have a simple tutorial for this type of end result?

Now I did see this tutorial on YouTube: (Wastelander - 3ds Max rubble) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wy5wSSnPlCs

However it did not show how the tutor/YouTuber got to have those piles of rubble, which is why I wanted to ask the pros here if anyone could help me with that. In the meantime, I'll be attempting my own experimentation as the assignment's due this coming Wednesday 7-27.

Thank you for any and all assistance about my modeling challenge.

Sincerely,

Crystal

There is an excellent free maxscript called DebrisMaker, which is perfectly suitable for this kind of thing. The script will allow you to generate all sorts of rubble and junk to scatter around your scenes any way you see fit.

DebrisMaker 2

I'm not the author, and I have noticed the forum is down on the website. Luckily we can still access the script. You can find the script on Scriptspot.com with a search, and vote it up, or leave a comment there. Usually the authors will get notified someone posted a comment to their item on ScirptSpot, and reply. The script is super simple, and fully automated. You'll notices it installs to the top of your UI as a text link, which will launch the script whenever you need it. Very clever the way he coded the macro. Anyway, hope you enjoy it.
