As you can see by the picture, the extrude modifier is extruding the line but I want it to create a surface. I have also tried converting it to an editable poly and using the surface modifier, both of them makes it turn invisible.

Hi,

The spline must be closed in order to get an extruded surface. If you created the shape with multiple splines you will need to make sure that all verts are welded where the splines join.

In addition, the spline is not supposed to cross itself. As for the Surface modifier, that one has a specific set of reuirements which your splines don't meet (only three or four knots per patch, for example). See the its help file section if you are interested in working with it. If you often use splines for modelling, you might be also interested in Mesh Surface (though it has even more strict requirements).

your spline is bad, because there are many cross sections,

try to make it again without many cross sections line...

visit our website, and subscribe our youtube channel, there're a lot tutorials

check this videos for your isues

Can you make this spoon ?

goodluck !!!!

Thanks for all the help. I know how to use splines, its just that I have been using them more of lately and I thought it would be the best way to create this shape. I didn't realise that crossing splines causes problems, In the end I just cut the shape from a plane using the cut tool.
