Hi Sharanu0212,

In 3ds max , the Window / Crossing option helps to define the behaviour of selection region.

By default it'll be in the Crossing mode - objects get selected when selection area touches the object.

Window mode - objects get selected when selection area encloses the object. It can be accessed by clicking the crossing icon again.
