Hello everyone,

I'm having problems understanding how the setup of the Vray Displacement Mod works. I have a vector (meaning quality isnt a problem), just like the file attached, and I'm trying to displace it to the side of a tire, but I cant get the smoothing quite right, I want smooth letters, but I need a sharp 90º outwards extrusion, if I make myself clear. Any ideas how should I setup this up?

Hi @franbottinelli96;

I'd like to help you with your issue.

I've downloaded your map and applied it to a typical tire formed geometry. Here's my result (My version of V-Ray is 3.50.04);

Usually, it's hard to control displacement maps, you need sharp black and white transitions where you want it sharp, and smoothed / gradient applied transitions when you want it smooth.

Is this what you want to achieve or am i misunderstanding you? tell me by viewing my result of your file so i can guide you.

Regards;
