Can anyone let me know how I can do a Boolean > Cut > Split now........it seems to have changed totally in max 2017.

I commonly used it for sectioning (cutting in half) 3d parts imported from solidworks.

I used to import the soliworks part into max, convert it to an editable mesh, and then position a box over half of the imported part to use as a cutting tool.

I would the use the Boolean > Cut > Split to split the soliworks part in half using the box......I would then convert it to an editable mesh and delete the half i didnt want.

I cant figure out how to do this at all in max 2017.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes they updated the boolean tool. I have always used pro-boolean under compound objects which I find better.

Thanks but unfortunately it has to be the "split" option for what I am doing.

It used to work perfectly for me before, now I`m at a total loss

If you tell us what your trying to do then we can help proBoolean has always been located in the compound objects.

They key to this really is that I need to create a split line through the centre of my target object, this splits the object into two elements and I can then detach one of them leaving me with two objects.

Why do you need to re-install max? just convert your model into a poly then go into edges and then select both sides of your model then run a connect through it if you want to change the amount of segs and pinch and side then then use the connect setting box then you can deattach them the polygons

here is the 3ds max 2018, 2017 versions of max as you can see in the compond objects you see boolean

Thanks, but its not as simple as that for a variety of reasons.

The objects are imported from Solidworks, and the geometry is quite complex.

I have run into the same issue on 3DS Max 2018, only this time I need to cut>refine a road onto a terrain using an extruded outline of the road so I basically can't use the slice modifier. See the attached image for clarity on my issue.

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards.
