Can you show or describe a bit more about what you are doing, show some screen shots or anything? It's really difficult to know exactly what you are seening and doing as your post is very vague.

Imagine standing at a stadium and looking out at a sea of cars and you point out over them and say, "I like that one." Well, which one? It's hard to tell what you are doing and what's not working without knowing more detail.

But the result was like stairs not smooth as i thought.

the result i got is this but im trying to achieve the smooth one.

I hope I explained enough.

I think you need to 'blur' the white part of your maps. Keep the grout black and select it, then invert and blur the white part. It's difficult to see the subtle value changes but it appears as if the white part of yours has a sharp edge.

As is usually the case, there are many ways to achieve the same thing in Max. Here is another way that might be better.

What you might want to try is the 'Tiles' map. It will give you interactive control over your tiles instead of using fixed maps like you have and it might solve your issue. Also, you put it on a flat plane and don't have to physically model the tiles. This gives you a much lower poly count.

Right click a clear area in the Slate Material Editor and go to Maps/General/Tiles.

1. Put a texture in the maps 'Tiles' input and set a color or use a texture for the 'Grout' input.

2. In 'Standard Contorls' pick 'Stack Bond' for example, or something else.

3. Set the 'Horiz. Count' and 'Vert. Count' in the 'Advanced Contorls' to whatever you'd like. If you double click the image icon of the Tile map node and expand it, you can see an overlay of the tiles you are making.

4. Shift+Click and drag the Tile map down to clone it. Change the 'Texture' to pure white and the 'Grout' to pure black.

5. Wire this node into the 'Bump' slot of the material.

6. Go to the bottom of the 'Material' node and find the 'Bump' parameter and adjust the value to something you like.
