I've tried to center the pivot for the actual object. The pivot however takes off ending up in a completely new place. Any ideas?

Hi,

Can you specify which Path Deform you're using? Is it PathDeform(WSM) or Path Deform?

Also, can you describe exactly how you are proceeding with this?

Maybe a quick video showing what you're doing from scratch can help.

Hey guys!

I've attached an animated gif where I'm trying to rotate an object along a spline which uses the PathDeform Binder (WSM) modifier. As you can see it rotates along a completely another pivot point than the one I tried to when centring it to the object.

Yes, the thing is though, I want to keep it dynamic so I can change the way the strap is bent. Otherwise I'll have to adjust and rotate each part by itself. Also, it won't longer operate as a reference object.

Besides the pivot problem the object also deforms when rotating.

What about linking the object and path to a dummy and rotating the dummy? It would avoid the deformation and pivot problem.

Hmm tried your suggestion. But didn't quite get the result I think you meant. Do you mean to create a box anywhere on the scene and then link the object and path to the box? The pivot is still off and rotates wierd 😕

Have you rotated the Box/dummy instead the other objects?

Also, have you tried to use the modifier path deform instead the world-space path deform?

Yes I rotated the dummy box. I tried the non-world-space modifier with a kind of weird outcome. I must do something wrong obviously. I tried the world-space path deform again without messing with the pivot. For some reason I manage to rotate it around the spline. So I guess it's resolved for now...
