Your PC specs are solid, so random 3ds Max crashes often point to software conflicts or settings. Try disabling third-party plugins, resetting 3ds Max preferences to default, and increasing your virtual memory to 3x your RAM. Also, check for any corrupted files or driver issues beyond GPU/BIOS updates. These steps often fix crashes on high-end systems like yours. @dla_wnetrz

I have a new computer, with quite high-end specs and I've been experiencing random crashed while working on a model. My PC specifications:

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB

64GB RAM DDR5

2 TB storage M.2 (more than 1.5TB available)

I've already tried updating my graphics card and BIOS, and the app itself is up to date. I've realized it sometimes happens when I simply try to change the name of a layer, other situations I can't recall what I was doing exactly.

Also, if it helps, it happens too on Zwcad - random crash, no errors. So if I started using other programs there's a high chance it would probably happen too.

I will attach a log file which I extracted after 2 crashed - one was at 19:10, the other at 19:23.

First, did you try resetting the ENU folder? (typical fix for many unknown issues).

After that, double-check all plugins are up to date to specifically be compatible with Max 2026. If you have any that haven't been updated for 2026, you have to consider it to be the problem.

If there is no update for one or more, test them by removing all plugins. Test first with no plugins installed for baseline. Then you install one at a time and test the file each time.

If the issue is indeed caused by out-of-date plugin, consider installing Max 2025 as a workaround.

There are a few other things to consider described on this page: Frequent crashing and automatic closing of 3ds Max

It's from 2024, but the suggestions to monitor RAM usage, verify certain Windows components are up to date, and checking background processes are all still valid.

Thank you for your response. I have already reset the ENU folder, but
unfortunately, the error still persists. As for plugins, I’m only using the
latest version of Corona and the latest version of Floor Generator. The
error usually occurs while working with layers and recently also when
copying a Corona camera.

I couldn't figure out what version of Max you are using. Does it still happen if you don't have 'Floor Generator' installed? Does it happen on every file, or just one or two? Just trying to diagnose a little bit.

If you have a file that does crash that does NOT have floor generator (because I don't have it) can you upload it? I'll open it and see if I crash.
