    <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes, that is how modifiers in 3ds Max work (side note: I always recommend not to use groups, as they can cause a range of problems - a "group" is not a normal scene object, it is more like a shortcut to select all the group members).&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;What you could try is to use a Mesher and pick the head(!) of the open group - afterwards you could close the group again and hide it.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Then you would apply the Slice modifier to the Mesher.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Or you do the same with a Boolean and pick the members of the group&amp;nbsp;in Attach mode and then apply the Slice modifier to the Boolean.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have 16 individual mechanical nuts grouped together which need sliced. I have the group closed, added the slice modifier onto the group and set the key frames for the slice. The problem is the slice modifier sets onto each individual nut instead of it being a single modifier on the group. I think this is causing slow/impossible playback in the viewport. What am I doing wrong?&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I noticed there is a similar post from 2022 with this problem which was solved with a reboot. I've tried this with no luck.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks&lt;/P&gt;</description>
