You can move the Autodesk Materials folder, but have to fix some registry entries under HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Autodesk , depending on the installed Autodesk Materials version ( a different versions gets installed with each different major Max version)

The paths to fix are under the following registry keys. Look in all subkeys there to correct the "LibraryPaths" entries according to your new path, were you copied the materials to. There are the Textures path and the library paths themself, hence there are two or more different keys ( depending on the number of Max versions you got installed )

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Autodesk\ADSKAssetLibrary\

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Autodesk\ADSKTextureLibrary\

Again: look for ALL "LibraryPaths" values under the above keys, and correct them correspondingly ( but take care to keep the textures entry pointing to the new textures folder, and library entry to the new libraries folder)

Hi, so I have been running 3ds max for a while, and it's been great. The only problem I have is that I own a small ssd (30GB) so I'm always short on space. I noticed that the autodesk shared folders at

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared are each about 1.5 gigs. Is it possible to move the materials folder in these to a seperate drive or am I stuck with 3 gigs of textures on my C drive?
