I import a lot of meshes into 3ds max, and need to perform operations on them.

I have yet to find a tool that lets me boolean meshes, or boolean a mesh with a surface or other object types.

How can I cut a shape from a mesh, or any other boolean operation?

Thanks.

That's odd, if the object is geometry, both should work, for splines only boolean will be enabled.

Are the objects grouped? That would explain it.

I'm trying to Boolean a mesh, but it won't let me. It's not a group/assembly.
I thought that maybe you just can't Boolean meshes, but then how would you cut them three-dimensionally?

If they are meshes, the booleans should be enabled. It may be something perculiar to those meshes, being imported ones. Maybe you could post a file for someone to examine. I don't have access to a recent version of Max at present, so won't be able to check those files, but someone else may do it. Or try one of the import files.

Do the booleans work on geom made in Max, if you make a simple box and sphere?
