Hi,

First, you should post this question on the installation and licensing forum: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/bd-p/24

You need to install the licence manager on your new server. Create your new licence file for the new server. Once the new server is running, you will need to change the file LICPATH.LIC on each client computers with notepad to change the server name. This file is in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2011 (i think) or simply search your C drive to find this file (you can have many licpath.lic to modify if you have a suite).

Probably you will need to open those Ports on the server: 2080 and 27000-27009

If you have any problems, it's possible that you need to disable IPv6 on the server, here's the procedure: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/929852

For the support, you can contact your Autodesk Reseller or place a support case from your Autodesk Subscription. But also note that your version of 3ds Max is no longer support by Autodesk.

Hi,

Currently we have 3dsMax (2011 edition) installed on an old legacy server 2003 and this legacy server will be decommissioned soon.

Current license type - Network

I intend to download and install the NLM LMTOOLS utility on a VM that has 2012 OS so that the license can be run from the new VM 2012 OS.

Since I could not find any email or phone contact number from this site, I had to post this here for further advice on the matter.

Can anyone please advise on the licensing part of things? For e.g., do I need to borrow or transfer the license before I go ahead the install? Last thing I need is for users to be offline for a couple of days.

Also, if there is any autodesk 3ds Max email contact, please pass that through.

Regards, Raz.
