Hello everybody,

I have an annoying problem with 3dsmax 2016 and Backburner. When a server has finished and saved a frame, it is assigned a new one, but before the render begins this error occurs:

INF Adapter returned unexpected code -2 for "C:\ProgramFiles\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016\maxadapter.adp.exe" "-o" "NewTask" "-1" "Info" "-j" "C:\Users\bburn\AppData\Local\backburner\ServerJob\*Jobname*.xml.details" "-s" "35" "-n" "1" "-a" "C:\Users\bburn...

ERR Task error:3dsmax adapter error: Autodesk 3dsMax 18.0 reported error: An unexpected exception has occurred in the network renderer and it is terminating.

ERR 3dsmax adapter error: Autodesk 3dsMax 18.0 reported error: An unexpected exception has occured in the network renderer and it is terminating.

INF Application is down

INF Adapter returned unexpected code -2 for "C:\ProgramFiles\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016\maxadapter.adp.exe" "-o" "NewTask" "-1" "Info" "-j" "C:\Users\bburn\AppData\Local\backburner\ServerJob\*Jobname*.xml.details" "-s" "35" "-n" "1" "-a" "C:\Users\bburn...

ERR Unknown Error

After a while the server gets a new job from the manager and starts 3dsmax and rendering again.
This happens for every rendering machine after every frame!

Has anybody an idea how to fix this?

Hello all,

I recently had the -2 error on backburner 2016 at home. For me, the problem was a bad firewall update. Disabling the firewall did not help in this case, I had to totally uninstall it. (Avast.) Once I uninstalled the firewall, backburner worked again. For me, this solved the issue and I thought I'd share.

On the Avast forums I saw others with issues with this update, and a fix is coming. If you find yourself with a -2 error, trying uninstalling the firewall or look at things that can block the manager from pinging the server. In my case it was server side where the blockage was happening.

Best Regards,

Alfred
