Layers dissapearing

Can I ask when is this going to be fixed?

Your nearly realeasing 2017, but 2016 is not working.

Layers dissapear all the time.

Restting is not a good enough answer, sorry..........can you fix it please.

I waste so much time on big projects fixing and refixing items.

Groups .......don't get me started, rolled back to SP1.

And if another so called Autodesk support person emails me with the greaat brain wave of reset, I will go mad.

It's not good enough with the prices you charge.

Hi Philip,

I'm not sure I will have a solution for you...however....

When is it that you find that you are having layers disapear? Are they empty layers, or is there geometry on the layers when they disapear? If they have geometry, is that geometry moved to a different layer or is it deleted from your scene? Is there something that was done to the geometry...linked it...specific modifiers...anything?

Can you replicate this on demand or is it apparently random? Does it happen with large and small files alike? Do you get any errors? What have you tried through your troubleshooting?

I understand your need to vent, but thats all your message was. If you are looking for help from the community, please supply additional information. Start with yout system specs in your signature, ans answers to the above questions.

Groups. Whats your problem with them? I'm using SP2 without issue. Maybe I'm using them differently than you.

Pricing. Yup, it sucks.

I've been using 2016 since the day it was release and havnt experienced this problem. Is anyone else reporting this problem? (That you have heard about)

Good Morning.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I am sorry it is a rant as it should not be happening.

Layers dissapeared, It was originally a Revit file brought in Stripped out, and parts were used , less that 50%were used.

They Set up in Vray, and then converted to Corona for Interior rendering.

Thats when the laters start disapearing.Screen shot attached to show what i mean 40mb of Geomitry and not layers showing.

I have since gone back 3 days ,and have started again.it has happened on other files tool nothing to do with revit or Corona either.

In realtion to Groups, Max 2016 Sp2 messed it up for me, and I was even told that it is an issue and they are woking on it, but it flips and scatters your items when you go to group something for Mirroring for example.

My spec is a Dell Pecision T7910, Duel Xeon, 32Gb and K2000 Nvidea, it s a great machine.

Maybe the Layer disappearing issue have to do with importing/linking from external sources like Revit?

Because i`m using Layers quite extensive in 3dsmax2016, creating,nesting, deleting and merging them without any problems so far.

From your screenshot I assume that layers 001 and 002 are gone?

I’d like to get some additional information:

Are the contents of the no longer existing layers still in the scene? If yes what layer does 3ds Max say they are in? You can do this by performing the following:
Select the object > Right-click > Object Properties… > Layer

If you save the scene as a 2013/2014 scene (Application menu > Save As > “Save as type” drop down) and then reopen, do the layers return when reopened in 2016?

If the above changes nothing, if you try (Application Menu > New > Keep Objects and Hierarchy) do the layers return?

1. In the properties they are coming up as the original layers I named them.

But they are not on screen.

2. V2013 ....no the layers do not return.

3. Application New ..........................No that dose not work either.

if they are not there then yes they are gone.........?
