Hi!

I can't dubble click to open *.Max files from folders in windows 10.

(I'm on an an account that has admin rights) I usually run max as administrator.

It works fine to open the files through the 3dsMax program, but it's still anoying not being able to dubble click on files.

The thing is this, If I unlock the hidden administrator account then it works fine to open the files from any folder. This acount has some limitations though, Like sertain Microsoft features are not allowed to use from the administrator account.

How to I fix my user account so that it can open *.max files?

(I've tried disableing UAC from control panel that dos not work)

Hi,

Can you please try to move this file to a folder named "abc" and then try to double-click opening it?

Also, can you please try to right click on file, click "open"?

I have something in my mind but i need your replies for the actions above.

Best regards;

Hi!

I finally was able to resolve this issue by

opening regedit and then deleting the entry .max under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

(After restarting the pc, I could open the *.max file with 3dsMax)

I suspect this issue was caused by a previous install of a demo version of 3dsMax.

(Before this I tried every solution thinkable on this side of the milkyway, including completly removeing 3dsmax and reinstalling the software)

The way I found the solution was to rename the file *.max2, to see what would happend when I tried to open the file. Since this filetype had no difficulty running and open 3dsMax the issue had to be connected to the filetype somehow. 🙂

Cheers! 😄
