Hi,

It sounds like you might need to enable Axis Constraints:
https://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-E7EF1D0A-A25A-4D64-86F8-31EA920EF8AE

Another suggestion, that might be useful... depending on whether you are scaling on one axis, or keeping the aspect ratio of the entire object, and scaling uniformly this might be interesting:

I abandoned trying to use the in-house 3DSMax Align tools. They are clunky and unintuitive for the type of alignments that I do day to day. I find this script to be much simpler to use and the results are always spot on first go. It scales uniformly and snaps to vertices too:

https://apps.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/en/Detail/Index?id=3470835942265631269&appLang=en&os=Win64
Scriptspot Link: https://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/3-point-align

Installation and how to use it explained in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zB2k5eLGmT4

Regards,

Greetings,

I'm trying to use snaps to align to another object's vertex while scaling on the X axis. Is this not possible?

When using snaps while moving vertices, I can see a circle and a green triangle appears with a line extending as I move the mouse, then I see a green + sign and the vertices align perfectly to the other object.

Anyway when I try scaling using snaps, I see the green triangle but no line extends to make the perfect alignment to the other object's vertex. The scaling action does not stop as I would expect when nearing the other object's vertex.
