topic Re: "Missing Map Coordinates Window (UVW 1): default" Help? in 3ds Max Forum

Hi. Yes it's correct. It means you need to apply a UVW map (modifier) to the object, because without this the renderer doesn't know how to project the material bitmap onto the object.

So, select object, scroll down the modifier roll out and select "UVW map", select the proper UVW mode (for a wall this would be "box"), rotate the gizmo if needed, and render. Now there should be no warning regarding this object, and the material should be rendered properly.

Hope it helps

"Missing Map Coordinates Window (UVW 1): default" Help?

Hello,

I have spent about 6-7 months experimenting with 3ds Max trying to understand the basics. Basically, I'm having trouble when I attempt to render an object with an assigned material to it. When render the wall without the material assigned to it, it's fine. But once I apply the material to the wall, a window pops up labeled, "Missing Map Coordinates," (UVW 1): default. So, I tried googling what this means and it looks like I have to use a "UVW Map" or something as a modifier. Keep in mind, I am fairly new to this program, so if any help is given, please treat it as though you are teaching an elderly woman to open the fridge.

Thanks so much in advance!

~Lukas

Attachments:

1. Screenshot of what happens when I try to render my wall (with material)

2. Material I tried appling to the wall model
