topic "SetDir #autoback new_path" will be ignored?!? in 3ds Max Forum

I changed the auto backup path with:

 bak_path = pathConfig.appendPath maxFilePath "max_autobak"
 format "Set #autoback to %\n" bak_path
 ok = makeDir bak_path all:false
 if (ok == true) then (
 SetDir #autoback bak_path
 ) else (
 format "Error: Can't create or already exist path %\n" bak_path
 )

But the changed directory will be ignored and the origin project path will be used.

How to fix this?

Just wanted to get some background information just so I can make a better informed response. Why are you trying to change the autobak location using scripting rather than though the UI? (Customize > Configure User Paths… > File I/O > AutoBackup)

Have you seen: bak_path = pathConfig.appendPath maxFilePath "max_autobak" ??

Understood, just wanted some background in case I had an alternative method in mind.

I'm in the middle of testing things out and analysing what's going on. I'll keep you updated with the results.

I seen that chang autoback will "break" the maxscript plugin "Copitor" 😞 Because it stores the copy&paste content files into autoback... So it can't copy&paste between scenes in different paths 😞

So i will deactivate it...

EDIT: btw: Copy and Paste between Max instances is a wish from 2010: http://3dsmaxfeedback.autodesk.com/forums/76763-small-feature-requests/suggestions/1103695-copy-and-paste-between-max-instances
