Hello @Anonymous,

Did you recently install any plugins, save over a material library, etc? It sounds a bit like part of your installation has been corrupted, but it's unclear why without a bit more of an idea of anything that may have changed recently. I searched the bug tracker and there's no bug related to this, so the fastest fix would be to reinstall 3ds Max, but if we work together we may be able to nail down what exactly was corrupted. You might also try to reset your user settings just in case.

Hello! and Thank you for responding.
What happened is that i was trying to install V-Ray and i got it from a Russian website i guess and my system got infected; unable to locate the source, i had to reinstall my OS. but i had my applications in a separate HD so some of the settings remained and i encountered that problem. Any suggestions i how to go about installing V-Ray, I'd appreciate the advise. Thank you in advance.

I had to uninstall all the Autodesk Applications and re-install anew.
