Matthew

Workstation specs are: Dell 3610, Xeon E5-1620 - 3.7GHz, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro K600, running Windows 10 Pro, using Corona 1.5 for renders.

We also tried using an alternate system, thinking maybe there was a hardware issue on the workstation. Alternate system specs are: Core I7-4790 - 3.6 GHz, 12 GB RAM, GeForce GT720, running Windows 10 Pro, using Corona 1.5 for renders.

Same results on both machines.

We have not installed any service packs, as we did not know there were any available.

We have submitted countless CER's, but have not retained any of the numbers.

Thanks

Sean

We've been on 3dsMax 2017 for a few months now and find myself wishing I could go back to Max2013. Multiple crashes EVERY day. Commands that trigger the crash are, Open File, applying material to object, launch render to network, scrolling through keyframes, etc. Also, editing and then saving an image map in Photoshop that is referenced in a 3dsmax material will often result in 'unexpected error' and crash. Also occasionally get "Unknown Error #17" at network render launch.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced such instability with this build. Averaging one crash every 2hrs.

We are running Windows 10 Pro, and Corona Render 1.5 plugin

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the issue. Could you provide some of your computers specs?

Have you installed the latest service pack? Is your graphics card driver fully up to date?

2013 to 2017 is a larger upgrade in software, so I'm curious if perhaps some hardware may not be as compatible with the more graphics intensive capabilities of 2017.

If you have the chance please submit any CER logs (Crash Error Report) to Autodesk. Those can be pretty helpful in deciphering what might be the cause of a crash as well. Do you have any of the CER numbers for us to look into?

Hi @Anonymous,

I would recommended making the updates described above. If the issue persists after those updates, just grab your next CER number, post it here, and we can have a deeper look into the report to see what is happening.

Did you enter an email address when you submitted the CER's? I can search based on the submitted email address if you don't have a report number. (I did a search based on your forum profile email and found no reports, so maybe an alternate email?)

Do these crashes persist if you uninstall Corona?

Best Regards,

Alfred

We installed SP3 yesterday and actually used Max for nearly 8hrs without a crash. A first since installing 2017. So far, it appears to have solved the problem. Thanks for your assistance.

Sean

PS. It would be nice if AD would inform its customers when a SP is available.

If you're on subscription you can find another update in your manage.autodesk.com account, update1. It has some cool features and bug fixes in it.

I looked up your crash log and Corona is the source of this crash for this report. You might check for an update on their web site. Thanks for posting the report number, it helps.
