Good morning Alfred

Yes round corners does seem to be the best solution in my mind as well. Remember we have had this conversation in the resent past. When I get Vray up and running I am wondering if it has the ability of rendering round corners?

Thanks

new day new question.

Has anyone figured out a good method of creating railing? I really like AEC railing however there are a few things i dislike about it.

For instance why is the fence narrower when I keyed it the same thickness for it along with the top & lower rails post?

There are so may additional verts and polys that I cant simply apply a chamfer command that Alfred introduced to me.

The rail on the right was created by hand and a chamfer modifer added and the rail on the left is made from AEC railing

Hello @Anonymous,

The AEC tools are basic tools for creating rails, but they do often require a bit of attention if you want exacting topology. You should still be able to use the chamfer mod, but I suppose it depends a bit on the topology. If you want to attach a file with just the rails, I'm happy to take a look and offer suggestions.

The low poly solution is to use the "round corners" of a MR material or the VrayEdgesTex so that you don't need the chamfer mod, but these don't work in quicksilver.

Best Regards,

Hello @Anonymous,

I do remember our other thread, the problem there being that Quicksilver doesn't support them. But if you're using Mental Ray or Vray, then it's on the table again. In Vray, the node is called "VrayEdgesTex" and like MR, it works great.
