we already talk about crash dumps about a week ago there is a lot of infomation on it if you search the community.

as for the No I/o error try this

Activate the viewport in which the background image is visible.
On the Views menu, choose Viewport Background.
Notice the name and path of the background file is displayed in the Current field in the Background Source group
In the Background Source group, click Devices.
On the Select Image Input Device dialog, choose No I/O Handlers from the drop-down list, then click OK.
On the Bitmap Manager Error dialog, click OK.
The current field no longer displays the background file name. Instead No I/O Handler is listed in the Current field.
Click OK to close the Viewport Background dialog.
Next time you open up the Viewport Background dialog, no file name will be displayed in the Current field.

TipThis technique will work only on systems that don't have any other Image Input Devices installed.

Hello @ntptorres53 and welcome to the community,

I'm going to need a bit more information in order to help with this one, please. Are you manually pressing the devices button when you're opening/saving the image or is it coming up automatically? Does this happen only when you select certain files? (Such as the .AVI?) Can you please provide a bit more context as to what you were doing when this came up and what you are trying to do? Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Hello @ntptorres53,

Resurrecting this old thread to note that if the "No Image I/O handlers" error appears when trying to load an .AVI file, it may be because it was originally saved in a codec that 3ds Max doesn't recognize.

In general, I highly recommend NOT using movie files of any kind as animated textures or backgrounds in 3ds Max. If you can, convert the .avi file to a series of sequentially-numbered images (via programs such as After Effects, Premiere, or free packages such as Handbrake), then try loading those instead. The memory overhead will be much less, since 3ds Max doesn't have to try to load the entire movie file into memory all at once, and issues with codecs will be eliminated.

Hope this helps!

Most likely you would have memory problems with image list files.

Unfortunately both options have miserable performance.

Fortunately there's way to bypass Max weakens in that matter.
