Hey @Anonymous!

Thanks for posting. 😃

I'm not sure about tutorials, as I really haven't found much on this particular topic for them. If you're looking for some information on asset management via Vault though, this article might be useful to you. Let me know if this helps!

Thanks so much,

Did you install the Vault server?

The screenshot you show looks like the client interface.

Just to rule out the basics.

Hi @MediaRobotics

The Autodesk Vault has two parts the Vault Client and the Vault Server. To use Vault with 3DS MAX you need to install the Vault Server. If only one user is using the Vault you could install Vault Basic on your desktop. If more users are going to use Vault I would put the Vault Server on its own dedicated computer. If the Vault Server does not find the SQL Server during install copy the "SQLConnectCheck.exe" file from the <DRIVE>:\en-us\edmPrechecks folder to the %tmp% folder. When you first install Vault Server and open ADMS Consol the default Administrator password is [blank]. You can add users by opening up ADMS Console and Selecting (Tools > Administration > Users).

One of the features of Vault is keeping all of your data in one place, this means that you can use the Vault backup feature to make a backup of all your work. Inside the ADMS Console, you can create a backup by (Selecting Tools > Backup and Restore).

When connecting 3DS MAX to Vault, open Asset Tracking by Selecting (Max > References > Asset Tracking). To use Vault instead of standard asset tracking, make sure to turn off Asset Tracking by Selecting (Options > Disable Asset Tracking), this will un-gray the Vault options. Then You will be able to log into the Vault Server by Selecting (Server > Login). You will use the same settings when logging into the Vault Server with the Vault Client by filling in: User Name, Password, Server IP/Address, Vault. Make sure to set a Working Folder, from the Asset Tracking window by Selecting (Server > Options > Browse). Once Login to Vault from 3DS MAX if the file is not in Vault you need to (Right Click and Select Add Files...) once this is done you will be able to check out the file make changes and check the file back into Vault.

Thanks,

Jason
