Thanks for all the help guys, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and look at my idea.

I have found that you can detach things and turn them off after for visibility and that solves my problem.

Maybe some people still make cars from whole and not from parts and they are welcome to chase this idea - (idea 1), but in terms of my feelings with this program now, im pleased with it.

If you are gonna chase this idea to the developers...im just gonna repeat what i`ve written for you to have an easyer look at the idea 1, and that is:

"The link and the file attached is the same thing.

Steps: Bottom left window shows only the highlighted vertices, the ones it show
they will highlighted in the back view on the upper left corner of my screen..
the others will fade, if you could put that as an option that it can do automatic if turned on.."

After writing this and taking some time to look, i still find this idea awesome if you are making something complicated as a big truck with many details.. this feature if made, will make it much easyer to reproduce the original truck. Sure we can make a truck from parts but after some time, if its a big truck, the questions comes up:"How many times will we need to use the option wield to make a truck a unity?" Will we later have problems if we attach the parts and we somehow forget those little tiny details that make the truck be what it is? How will we go back to making those parts we cant detach and attach again..

Lets set up this to a vote or please comment this and let me know the facts why this isnt a great idea. I think that with new things, maybe we dont know all the things this is good for, but with making such a feature, we will later for sure! For sure, we will be seeing the results of us, the whole comunity, why is this good for. We will see, after, all the reasons why is this a good thing.

Main idea:

Hi is it posible to create a feature like this in 3ds max...
Steps:

-Bottom left window shows only the highlighted vertices, the ones it show
they will highlighted in the back view on the upper left corner of my screen..
the others will fade, if you could put that as an option that it can do automatic if turned on..

-Backview will get the vertices shown only which are processed by the screen. As the topview gets enlarged in size less vertices will be show on versa and

those will be processed and highlighted and the others will fade.

Achivements: 3ds max will become alot more easyer to use and others..

Link of image on imgur site showing the first part of main idea in process:http://imgur.com/a/X7fMx

File is attached too.

Idea 2:

Make plane vertices be able to combine, colapse option doesent work. Curently this doesent work too if i make a
car from parts and that is super easy way to build a car, but when i need to
combine later different planes i cant do it please fix this.

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

For idea 1, this isn't currently possible if I am understanding you. (The link is broken.) For idea 2, any vertices can be combined or collapsed, but you end up with just some random points in space. What is your end goal with this? You can use Weld to combine verts, but the parts have to be attached. More information here. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks @Anonymous, that sounds good. I look forward to reading the link. You can hide verts though, and unhide them pretty easily. This would sort of accomplish what you are looking for.

To hide unselected verts in Editable Poly: Alt-I

To show all verts in Editable Poly: Alt-U

(Also works in Edit Poly.) You could select the verts you want to see, hide the unselected ones and simply unhide all when you're ready to manipulate others. Those hotkeys are right next to each other too, so it's a quick workflow. Would that work for this?

Best Regards,

Hello @Anonymous,

Oh I see! I use a couple tools a lot when I make cars. Flow Connect is hugely important to me, I can't live without it. Holding down Control when you press backspace to remove an edge will also remove the verts on that edge. Helps a lot for cars!

The swiftloop is great for getting quick edge loops into your model, and I have a few scripts by a really helpful user named @Swordslayer that I use almost daily at home. Using 3rd party scripts really helps extend Max and automate some tedious workflows, I suggest trying some of them.

Is that the kind of thing you're talking about?

Yeah. That's the info I'm looking for, but mostly I'm trying to get myself
a better view at solving my problems and that is how to build a good car.
That's why i asked you about your experience. And, are you allowed to
comment the idea itself, that's what I'm trying to get out of you. Is this
a good idea at all. Would it help you? 🙂
