I can't resize material editor dialog box (to the right or left) on 3ds Max

Hello,

I can't seem to drag the dialog box to the right or left of material editor, render set up and a few others in 3ds Max 2017, hence not showing the complete figures/words in the dialog box (picture attached below), I however can drag it down. I use a dell inspiron 15 7000 series 7548, windows 10.

Kindly help me please.

urrggg...another win10 scale issue...is it because you've scaled up your display so the font is not so TINY ? and now it's backfired on you ?

Absolutely not, I didn't re-scale anything. The fonts were normal right from installation.

ok, you might wanna ask Alfred how to set up font size correctly...they look large to me....but no, you (and everyone else too) can't change the width of the Compact Mat Editor...there's someone else ranting and raving about this fact already on the forum 🙂

While it's true that you cannot rescale the material editor, there does seem to be a problem here with the scale of your fonts. I've gotten a few cases like this lately and it is a bit odd. Have you installed any updates or service packs for Max 2017? (Manage.autodesk.com) If not, will you please try that for me?

Does this problem persist at any zoom level in Windows? Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display-> Adjust zoom.

Lastly, are you using a non-English version of Windows? (Just checking to see if the language settings for Max and Windows are the same.)

Sorry been a bit busy lately, no i have never tried installing any service packs update. Yes problem persists at any zoom level in Windows, and I use an English version of windows 10, & lastly graphics card is AMD Radeon R7 M270.

Hello @Anonymous,

This issue is being investigated by the next level of support for Max. I've had 3 or 4 cases about this in 1 week which all sort of came up suddenly so we're looking into some kind of windows update or other factor which might be causing this. I don't have any details yet but I will post back in a couple days when I have more information. Thank you.

I have a couple questions here for you. Thanks for taking the time to answer them.

1) How many monitors are you using with 3ds max? (or is it just your laptop screen?) If multiple.. what happens if you just use 1. You would need to close Max before you try this. I wonder if Max is getting confused by which monitor's DPI to read.

2) Have you tried adjusting Fixed Width Text Buttons in Customize->Preferences->General Tab?
