Hello,

I am new to 3ds max 2018 and am facing a bunch of problem.

when I first time started using 3ds i got "Loading of software driver (HeidiDriver.drv) failed. Forcing Null driver mode".

the error never came back after that.

and the light is not working in my animation.

my 3ds max software is installed in its default directory:C:\Program Files\Autodesk in windows 10.

my scene is attached.

Thanks.

hi

try this :

launch the windows execute command with "win + R"

type :

%ADSK_3DSMAX_x64_2018%3dsmax.exe -h

then press ok

in the popup choose direct3d 11 (nitrous)

if it fails do it again with dx9,then legacy direct3d and legacy opengl at the very end

you may not use nitrous software, it means that the 3ds max viewport is handled by cpu instead of gpu. Software is heidi driver.

you don't have to do this each time you start max, do it one time, choose a driver and next time you start max in a regular fashion, it will use the driver you choosed.

++

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

It looks like you may not have a supported graphics card for 3ds Max. Can you please let me know which card you are using? The 2018 list is still being prepped, but you can see the 2017 graphics hardware reqs here.

When I open your scene the light seems to be working, though it's very overexposed. If i set the intensity to 1000 instead of 150000 it displays much nicer. Can you please try that for me?

Best Regards,
