Hi, to do that, you'd want to change your power options. I'm not on my laptop right now so not sure if these are the exact names but why not try. Go to:

Control Panel> system and security> power options> Change what the closing lid do (or something similar)

Then you'd probably need to disable sleep and shutting down etc.

Please let us know if it works!

Hello,

I have a PC laptop running Windows 10. I am using both 3DS Max 2016 and 2017.

I have a long commute to and from work, so I would like to be able to use that time to render while I'm driving.

However, whenever I close my laptop, 3DS Max stops rendering, or pauses.

I would like 3DS to keep rendering when I close my laptop.

Does anyone know if there is a way to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Hi,

In Windows 10 press the start key and type 'choose a power plan' into the keyboard... pick that first hit.

Then over beside where the Power plan is selected (the one with the dot) choose 'Change plan settings'.

In the next window, click on 'Change advanced power settings' -> down to 'Power buttons and lid'.

Change that setting to 'Always on' or similar. I can't see the option because my Desktop obviously does not have a lid.

You may want to go through that list and change everything to 'Always on' or '0' (which will keep that particular windows power option always on).

One thing you may want to get would be a Laptop cooling tray, they hopefully make Cigarette Lighter powered laptop cooling trays. With the lid closed, in a warm car, with your laptop on constant full use.... I'd imagine that the laptop would got hot pretty quickly. Either that or leave the windows open, or your cars climate control set to as cold as you can cope with. In any case your laptop may have cool air intake slots and hot air exhausts on the bottom or side panels, make sure that the flow to these areas are not inhibited by the car seat.

Thank you all for the great tips.

I hadn't thought about the cooling issue. I guess it wouldn't be a good idea to leave the laptop inside my leather brief case then.
