3DS MAX exporter stop working

Hello. Cal3D export-bone assigment stopped working while I was trying to record the product with 3ds max. Pls help me

3ds max is stopping work while saving the product.

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

If this is only crashing when you export with this plugin then the best course of action is to contact the makers of the plugin. There's not much I can do about 3rd party products and scripts when it comes to support. If you are having issues outside of the exporter, then I can help and I am happy to do so. I tried to check the CER logs but I don't see any submitted from your forum email address. The next time Max crashes, put in your email address and I can verify where the crash is happening. However if it's only on export with this plugin, then I think it's the plugin and you should contact the maker of the plugin. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Also, please make sure that you have the latest service pack for 3ds Max 2016. I suppose it's possible that if you are not fully updated that this plugin might be looking for code that isn't there in the unpatched version of 3ds Max 2016. Thanks!

I do not know how to send CER logs. As you might have guessed, is due to the manufacturer's fault. Thank you for your help

Happy to help @Anonymous. I have more information about CER's for you here. The page says AutoCAD but it applies for multiple products. The CER window usually comes up when Max crashes. Often the email address is blank, but if you put your address in before you send I can then see what happened on my end usually. Please let me know if you have any questions.

If you mean the CER Window doesn't come up when the program crashes you might have a system issue which is causing it. You can look in your event viewer logs for more information, but it may just be caused by the plugin somehow.

Thanks for posting those. I see the crash in ntdll.dll but nothing specifically pointing towards Max or the plugin. At least we tried that.

The only thing left I can suggest is that I download and install the plugin and try to export your model myself as a test. Would you be into that? I could create a private folder for you to upload the file to.

That's an option but I wanted to test on my machine to see if the problem was possibly the computer or the plugin. I can't really fix their plugin, but if it works on my machine maybe we can figure out what is happening. Please post a link to the plugin or include the installer in the Box folder if you can with your scene file. Thanks!

I wanted to follow up here. I installed and tested it with some of their biped files they include in the plugin and everything seems to be working fine. I was never greeted with that same window as your first post though. I can verify that Max is working with this plugin, and so the problem must be with your rig setup in conjunction with the plugin itself. I think you'd have to direct your questions to the makers of the plugin as to what you need to change, but overall I can verify Max is working ok with this. My only suggestion (without knowing the plugin) is to try a max number of bones per vertex of 3 or so instead of 999.
