(This is the 2nd time I am posting this as my first post did not seem to show for anyone else)

So here is my current project:

It should look like this:

I think the texture uses white as alpha and the main colour comes from the object (maybe?).
And everything else uses Black alpha (maybe?) e.g. The badges.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
I'll also inculde my .max and textures.

Thanks.

Black is fully transparent and White is Fully opaque. I downloaded your file. Your diffuse texture has no alpha channel to it. If your goal is to leave the car's paint job to change at anytime, you need to make a separate UV channel for the Decals only. In other words, have a separate UV channel just for painted textures, and the first UV channel can be the shader, where you can change the color at will.

https://sketchfab.com/models/eee2b1fceb944006aa0d91eb721a826c

Check the link above to see what I am talking about. The decals found in the car (stripes and the Audi Racing vinyl on the Windshield) is done like that (like what I mentioned above). I can change the color anytime I want. But the stripes will remain unchanged.

Otherwise you can just change the white color in your texture to yellow, and do Roughness, Metallic, (PBR method) or Glossiness and Specular. But this will mean you'll have to change the color of the paint in the diffuse texture instead of from the Material shader.

Any chance you can teach me how to do this without changing the textures but to change colour at anytime?
I'd greatly appreciate it it as I've got over a hundred cars to do (that should use the same method) and I've only been using 3dsmax for only a few months, so I have hardly any idea on what to do.
Thanks.

Are you going to render it within Max? If so, I can... Any other renderers, I am not sure if UV channels are accessible in any other renderers. They are in game engines, but I don't know of any other.

No that's not it unfortunately, as all the detail is lost from the texture. I've found a screenshot of someone who managed to do it.

I understand mate... you can have those details as well. I repainted your model on my PC with your UV. I did not paint the other details such as light etc...

I only painted the decals. What you see in my last post, is my texture without the lights and other details.

I moved the existing UV to a new Channel so that you can have the car diffuse color changeable at any time. This doesn't affect any textures that you paint such as lights, decals, license plate etc...

I see, if you can change the colour and pretty much make any livery I can, whilst the detail goes on top of that, then that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the video! That's really helpful.
I was hoping to be able to keep the black body panel outlines I guess I'll have to manually add them. I think the UV render may be able to do that for me, except this is happening:

The UVs for 'body_ref_blend_TexBlendBodyParts' don't seem to be correct. How did you manage to render the one from your video correctly?
