Hi,

I recently build a new PC with Ryzen 1600 and I am facing a freezing issue during rendering with 3ds Max 2016. During rendering my whole PC will freeze on and off throughout. I did multiple stress tests and the freezing issue only happens when 3ds Max is open.

May I know when will Autodesk be releasing an update or patch for Ryzen? As I saw a few other post with people having the same issue.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Clement

Hi Fadhil,

Thanks for the reply! I downloaded 3ds Max on Monday after I build my PC.I believe it should be the latest service pack, if not, please kindly advise me on how to check and update it to the latest service pack.

Thanks!

Clement

Hi,

I have the 1800x with the same issue. But it is not a problem for me. While rendering the PC would freeze for 5-10 seconds but would NOT crash and the rendering would finish normaly.

Hi Fadhil,

I took your advice and updated 3ds Max to the latest service pack, unfortunately, the freezing issue still persist. Like Cupax mentioned too, though it freezes it will still finish the render eventually.

However, I am concern that this issue might not be healthy for the PC in the long run.

Thanks for the help though!

Cheers!

Clement Tan

I've experienced this too, but I always blame this on the lighting calculation and shader compilation. While yours is a few seconds only, I've sometimes had up to a few minutes. While this is true of the render progress tracker (the loading bar), the rendering window seems to be unaffected and yes, it completes the rendering successfully. I do not know if this is a problem with the graphics card or 3DS Max itself.

Well I don't really see any other solution to this other than waiting for a new update from Autodesk.
