Hi. I imported an FBX with vertex color information from unreal to max. I see the vertex color. Is it possible to render out a map (jpeg, etc) with the vertex info? I'm trying to create a blend map sung the vertex color.

cheers,

Luke.

Its been a while, but I'm fairly sure you need to add a Standard material to your object, then assign Vertex Color map type to the diffuse slot. After that you could render it out with Rendering/Render to texture.

what are the settings for render to texture?

Haven't tried it recently but it should work for you to take your object after you put a vertex color map on it, to assign a new Unwrap UV modifier, select all faces unfold your mapping and have it at map channel 1 (i.e. dont choose vertex color channel in unwrap).

In Render to Texture, you use the existing map channel (ch1) and simply render (Element type) diffuse map type to diffuse output (target map) with standard scanline renderer. (Set renderer in Render Setup dialogue)

*should* hopefully work, let me know.

Add this to above post--> when applying vertex color map, set map channel to 0 or you'll get a color gradient when you render..

Thank you so much! I was applying the material with the matching map channel and it always had the gradient. You rule. I hope you have an awesome week!.
