topic Need help exporting road that used path deform (either with or without ws) in 3ds Max Forum

ws = world space

My problem is I made a roadabout using path deform but have been so frustrated trying to export it to unity. I want to export my roundabout to unity and have tried so many ways to try and do it but they don't seem to work.

Way 1 : Export it normally which will come out with errors.

Way 2: Use path deform (world space) and then collapse the path deform which will come out with an error about "non-orthogonal" and will export but will be straightened out in unity.

Way 3: Use snapshot, snapshot it to mesh and then convert to poly where only the outline will show being a roundabout without the actual objects and texture showing.

Are there any more solutions to this?

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

I would collapse the stack and then reset the Xform and then collapse that as well. Sounds like some transform history is in there still, best to just 'reset' that as well since you're already collapsing the stack. Should remove that error. Can you please try it?

If you go with Way 1 maybe instead you could create a Mesher object, convert it to poly and then export that instead. This way you don't lose your stack history. That will carry over your uvs and you just need to apply your material to the new object and you should be good.

Best Regards,

Alfred
