I have an object file and a JPG file which consists of texture/material/colors, sorry, I am not too familiar with terminology.

As far as I understand, both colors and so to say, static shadows are already included in the JPG.

As far as I understand issue comes from default lights making object cast shadows on itself, but then your solution should have fixed it.

Cheers,

Kārlis

Hello,

I am completely new to the 3DS Max and 3D editing in general so I apologize if my question is rather silly.

Have spent a lot of time trying to play around with settings and looking things up but nothing seems to work.

I have this skull object, and texture for it already includes the shadows needed(they should be static) no matter the angle.

I need to make a small animation with the skull rotating, but I can't seem to disable the shadow which is cast by itself.

How would I go about getting rid of this shadow?

I am using 3DS Max 2017.

Cheers,

Kārlis

That doesn't seem to be doing anything in my case, when rendering out a single frame, shadows are still there.

Cheers,

Kārlis

Yep, if the shadows are there when you view the flat image in photoshop or other image viewing program, there is no way to remove them except to do some photoshop work on your skull map. (This jpg that is in your diffuse channel on your material)

Thank you! That did the trick along with "Default lights follow view angle", had missed this menu though on 2017 Max it seems to be split into two separate menus.

Cheers,

Kārlis
